The West Bend $1000 Cache Bash is fast approaching! The big weekend happens Aug. 11-12 in West Bend, the “Geocaching Capital of the Midwest™.” Last year, over 710 teams participated in this premier geocaching event and this year is the 10th edition of the Ba$h. Make plans to head to West Bend to join the party! Here are a few tips to help you get your most out of your time in West Bend.
Take the tour
The West Bend Four Seasons Geotour is a series of 20 geocaches highlighting some of West Bend’s most interesting places. To learn more, go here or when you’re at the park you can get the coordinates sent right to your phone!
Go to school
Elevate your game by attending workshop – a Tricky Caches Class will give you tips to find those difficult caches.
Bring your costume
There will be lots of galactic-themed fun this year. The event’s theme: “Episode X Cache Wars.” Drop in on the Friday night light saber flash mob event. And on Saturday, there will be a Star Wars costume parade. Dress up as your favorite character – you could win a prize!
Go night caching
A Galactic Night Cache event takes place Friday night. Bring your flashlights and black lights!
Fun for kids
Bring the kids along to the event. They can see Signal the Frog up close, enjoy a bounce house or take a free deep in a West Bend pool or splash pad, thanks to the West Bend Parks Department.
On Sunday, the Wisconsin Geocaching Association will sponsor a pancake breakfast at Regner Park. Eat all you can!
