Lac Lawrann Conservancy

This 137-acre nature preserve protects wetlands, forests and prairie. There are 4 miles of Hiking, Walking & Running trails at the conservancy, and neighboring Royal Oaks Park has another 1.5 miles of trails. In the winter, it’s a popular cross-country skiing destination, with 2.8 miles of trails groomed for classic cross-country skiing—use the Royal Oaks Trail Loop, the Pine Plantation Trail and the Prairie Trail. Snowshoe trails are also available—use the Northern Wetland, Esker and Railroad Spur trails.

Bicycling is not allowed on the conservancy’s paths, but you can reach the park by bike—there is a paved spur that connects to the Eisenbahn State Trail.

The conservancy protects more than 300 species of plants and more than 200 species of birds call this special place home. Lac Lawrann welcomes more than 5,000 visitors each year, including 1,200 schoolchildren. The preserve’s land includes wetlands, a native hardwood forest, a red pine plantation, prairie and glacial landscapes. Facilities are available for weddings and other special events.
