Cache Bash magic
Do you believe in magic? The XI annual Cache Ba$h is fast approaching and West Bend is making plans to roll out a magic carpet for hundreds of geocaching enthusiasts. As always, the event will draw avid cachers from around the world for a weekend of geocaching, activities and a chance to win part of a $1,000 prize. This year’s event has a magical theme.
The Cache Ba$h will take place Aug. 10-11 In Regner Park, a place that offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities. There’s a family-friendly swimming area and a splash pad for kids as well as a fishing pond, sports fields, nature trails, horseshoe courts and more. Registrants will receive a free pass to the pool and splash pad.
New geocachers welcome
While the event draws accomplished geocachers who have already located scores of caches, people who have never been geocaching before are welcome to join too. All you need at the Cache Ba$h is a sense of adventure and a device with GPS, like a smartphone. Need some help? The event includes an Introduction to Geocaching class that will teach you the basics.
Every registered person who signs up will receive a raffle ticket for a $1,000 drawing. The prizes include $500, $250, $100 (2 winners) and $50.
The weekend is filled with fun activities. Arrive on Thursday night to catch Music on Main, a free concert at Old Settlers Park. There will be a flash mob on Friday night—stay tuned for details. On Saturday, magicians from the International Brotherhood of Magicians will stroll the pavilion area, offering free entertainment. There will also be “Magic at Night” geocaching events and on Sunday, a pancake breakfast in the park.
