Fall Walks

Four top spots for fall romance

There’s something about the changing colors and the first nips in the air that stirs the romantic in people. Here in West Bend, it’s no exception. Here are four of our favorite places to share the season with someone you love.

Stroll the Eisenbahn

You’ll find a five-mile long stretch of this state trail running through the heart of downtown West Bend. It’s an easy walk (or bike ride!) and because you’re in the neighborhood of both the Ice Age Trail and the Kettle Moraine State Forest, you know you’re going to see some amazing fall color along the way. Once you’re into the heart of town, explore some of our quaint shops, snuggle up with a glass of wine, or pop into Candyman on Main and pick up something sweet for your sweetie.

Romantic waterfront views

For a spot to enjoy both the water and the fall foliage, check out the Riverwalk. You can stroll up to three miles, hand in hand, overlooking the Milwaukee River. The Riverwalk connects with Regner Community Park, where you and your significant other can search for some our 1,600 geocaches!

Get artsy

Another great spot for a fall stroll is the West Bend Sculpture Walk. On your hunt for the more than 40 outdoor sculptures, you’ll make your way through the city and even onto the Riverwalk. The artists are local, regional, national and international sculptors and many of their pieces are larger than life. You’ll love the conversations the art sparks.

A cozy dinner

End the day with a delicious meal at Timmer’s Resort. This beautiful historic landmark has been remodeled to restore its original charm and the waterfront views of Big Cedar Lake are not to be missed. Ask for a table near the fireplace and enjoy everything from fresh seafood to aged steaks and prime rib.
