Some of the region’s best skiing surrounds beautiful West Bend. Ideally located between two premier ski areas, West Bend is the perfect base camp for a winter ski getaway. Where to ski in West Bend

There are two good bets for skiing in West Bend. They both offer a variety of ski runs and the amenities to make a day on the slopes fun and relaxing.

A quick six-minute drive north of town will take you to Sunburst Winter Sports Park, a 77-acre ski area that’s also known for another brand of winter fun. Sunburst has the world’s largest tubing park-even if you come to ski, you’ll want to take a trip or two down one of the park’s 45 tubing lanes. Skiers and snowboarders will also find 11 unique runs with varying levels of difficulty. The hill has a 214-foot vertical drop and has lights for night skiing, as well as race-tuned rental skis. The park has a chalet with full amenities, including Freschi’s Cafe, which features Starbucks coffee and espresso beverages.

About 10 miles southwest of West Bend is another beautiful ski area. Little Switzerland is one of the oldest resorts in the Midwest and its 18 runs have entertained generations of skiers. The hill is open for skiing and snowboarding and offers a 200-foot vertical drop. Friendly instructors provide lessons for new skiers and night skiing is available. The beautifully renovated Chalet Restaurant serves up delicious food and cocktails at the base of the hill.
