The Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) stands as one of the state’s most important centers for the visual arts. It houses an extensive collection of late 19th century and early 20th century paintings and drawings. The museum holds a number of exhibitions annually and features the largest collection of Wisconsin art ever assembled.
The museum is housed in a modern 32,000-square-foot structure in downtown West Bend, near the Milwaukee River. It has nearly 5,000 works of contemporary and historic art created by more than 350 artists.
The collection includes the works of panorama painters, social realists, wildlife artists and self-taught artists. The museum also holds the largest collection of works by Milwaukee-born, Munich-trained painter Carl Von Marr.
The museum offers regular programming aimed at art lovers of all ages, including Studio Saturdays, a drop-in art-making studio. Discover this Wisconsin treasure of a museum.
