It’s the time of year when nothing tastes better than a hearty made-from-scratch meal. In West Bend, you’ll find no shortage of restaurants that serve up these comfort food classics, whether you’re looking for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Here’s a look at three restaurants to try on your next visit.

Breakfast

Start your day off right at The Hub, just a short stroll from the Museum of Wisconsin Art along the Milwaukee River. The Hub is a community center, gathering space and non-profit coffee shop that has donated their proceeds to dozens of local organizations. Their products are all fairly sourced (including fair-trade coffee that’s roasted by Milwaukee-based Stone Creek Coffee), and their food menu includes quick bites like keto egg bites, bread pudding and bagel sandwiches. The Hub is open from 7am to 2pm Tuesdays through Saturdays and 9am to 2pm Sundays.

Lunch

Head to Omicron Family Restaurant on the south side of the city for a hearty lunch. The restaurant—a longtime favorite among locals—offers American favorites, as well as Greek, Italian and Mexican dishes, homemade soups and breakfast served all day, so diners will find plenty to choose from. If you’re in town on Friday, check out Omicron’s beer-battered fish fry, available for in-person, curbside pickup, and takeout.

Dinner

Prost! Put a little German influence in your dinner when you head to The Braising Pan restaurant and bar. The menu features German-inspired dishes like Jagerschnitzel and Braunschweiger sandwiches, as well as more American fare like bacon scallion salmon and a beer cheese filet mignon. The Braising Pan also offers daily specials like a Friday fish fry. If you’re exploring West Bend before the dinner hour, don’t worry—The Braising Pan is also open for breakfast and lunch.

Another local favorite? Timmer’s Resort on Big Cedar Lake just southwest of downtown West Bend. Timmer’s—which has had a presence in West Bend since the 1880s, when it first opened as an inn—is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday and serves up entrees like Canadian walleye, BBQ ribs and seared sea scallops, as well as burgers, prime rib and its famous Friday fish fry.
