MOWA Community Day

Museum of Wisconsin Art is thrilled to announce Potawatomi Community Free Day on Saturday, July 12, a special day of free admission and creative experiences for all visitors, made possible through the generous support of Potawatomi Casino Hotel’s Heart of Canal Street program.

From 9:30–4:00, visitors will enjoy free admission all day and participate in hands-on art activities inspired by celebrated Wisconsin artists. Guests of all ages are invited to design surreal animal collages, craft tie-dye pencil pouches, and bring artwork to life with a puppetry workshop inspired by Lon Michels’s Dancing Bear. All art activities are taking place from 10:00–2:00.

Visitors can also take in MOWA’s latest exhibitions, including Dormant Season,

a striking display of 29 personal and evocative photographic series by Wisconsin-born artist Erinn Springer and Mukashi Mukashi, an exhibition of hand-carved wooden masks by Madison-based artist Hideki Suzuki.

In addition to the exhibitions and art-making, MOWA is proud to host Big Plant, a regional initiative working to revitalize the Milwaukee River Basin through tree planting and environmental education. Visitors will have the opportunity to take home a free tree to support this important effort in stormwater management and urban greening.

The Museum of Wisconsin Art’s Community Free Day is generously sponsored by Potawatomi’s Heart of Canal Street program. Admission is free throughout the entire day for all visitors.
